All Cooped Up!
A co-worker of mine recently stopped by office at lunchtime and said “I have chickens.” I replied “I’m a vegetarian.” Turns out she wasn’t talking about lunch! She had bought 4-day old chicks for her grandkids at Easter and was trying to find a new home for the two remaining chicks.
Never one to turn down a stray animal, I said of course I would take them. The only problem…we’re months away from finishing our small animal barn so I needed to find a quick, easy and cute way to house my new chickens.
My friends at SummerHawk Ranch came to the rescue! They have the most adorable chicken coops that you will fall in love with! I picked the small red barn version and when it arrived, Pete and I got right to work. The coolest part is that you can assemble this in under an hour! I needed Pete’s help to move the box (a hefty 80 pounds) and he stepped in to help with the assembly while I arranged the parts and read the instructions. Here’s the video!
DISCLOSURE: SummerHawk Ranch chicken coop and extension provided by the manufacturer. Assembly and opinions are my own and I must tell you that I highly recommend this small chicken coop for your backyard chickens. It was easy to assemble in under 1 hour and Ethel and Lucy are loving their new home.
